Too dark? Craft a Lantern or unlock Light Bearer
Equip a hand Lantern, or unlock Light Bearer to illuminate the area around your character. These are two different solutions to the player’s dark-school and rainy-forest problem. A placed Garden Lantern is a separate crafted decoration.

Craft and equip the hand Lantern
- At Practical Practice in Wisk, check Nalin’s Lantern schematic. The crafting guide lists it at 400 Gold Petals and Carpentry level 2.
- Bring 10 Moon Poppy and 2 Iron bars to a crafting table. Moon Poppy grows from Kavita’s Spring or Summer seeds; Hyla at Newt’s Eye sells Iron bars.
- Craft Lantern, check inventory for the finished item, then equip it in the dark area. Buying the schematic alone does not produce a light.
Use Light Bearer without carrying a lantern
Open the Abilities tab for your Skill Trinket. The ability guide lists a four-point route: Potionwork Proficiency, Spirit of Flour, Song of the Sea, then Light Bearer. Follow connected hexes and their live descriptions before spending points. Once unlocked, click the Light Bearer hex to switch the glow on or off.
Unlocked, but still dark?
Check whether Light Bearer is active before toggling it. One Steam helper had to enable it, while another says theirs was on immediately after unlocking; the replies do not establish one default for every build. Compare the visible glow in the same location. For the crafted option, check that you equipped Lantern rather than selecting its schematic or a Garden Lantern.
