How to open the southern guarding bush with a high-quality Hardiness potion

Attend the first potion class with your cauldron

Read the Potion Lesson Letter and calendar for Potions 101: Practical Mixes for Practical Witches. Go to the Potions Lab in the academy’s east wing with the cauldron collected during enrollment. Follow Professor Sylvine’s desk instruction and select Potion of Hardiness. The Japanese release-week journal puts the first class on Spring day 4; follow your actual letter and calendar if the schedule differs.

Raise the practice score before brewing

1. Select Practice for Potion of Hardiness.
2. Fill each small cauldron with one twig and two grass ingredients, using the pictured recipe.
3. Complete as many correct combinations as the hourglass allows. Store an ingredient temporarily in the side bowl when no cauldron needs it yet.
4. Use those stored ingredients before the round ends. The walkthrough describes a one-point penalty for each leftover ingredient.
5. Leave the result screen and inspect the recipe’s quality rating. Repeat Practice if it is still below High Quality.

The 11:16 practice scene shows score thresholds of 50, 60, 70 and 80. Its later recipe screen labels three stars High Quality and four stars Exceptional Quality; Hardiness has score 83 before the successful delivery. These are observed development-build values. Use the quality label and score targets displayed in your installed version; this capture does not prove that 83 is the minimum required.

Use Brew to create the actual bottle

1. Gather 1 twig and 2 Cut Grass for one bottle. See the woodcutting and scythe steps if you are missing either ingredient.
2. Return to the cauldron and select Potion of Hardiness.
3. Choose Brew, rather than another Practice round.
4. Check the resulting bottle and keep it for the bush. A completed practice exercise alone is not an inventory potion.

The creator accidentally sold her potions at the well before remembering this task. If you did the same, brew another bottle instead of repeating the school lesson or searching for a different spell.

Return to the bush south of Wisk

Speak to the guarding bush on the southern road and use the potion hand-in dialogue. The 15:27–15:31 scene shows Martha accepting the bottle and letting the character continue. The release-week quest journal also records passage opening after the high-quality potion. Continue south toward the fishing-rod merchant.

If the road remains blocked

Check the exact item first: an Instagrow potion or a Practice result is not the requested Hardiness bottle. Then check its quality and whether you finished the hand-in conversation. Return to Practice for a higher rating if needed, then Brew a fresh bottle. A bush name or quality tier can differ between language/builds; match the location and quest request.
