Where to get twigs and cut grass, and how to use the scythe
Get a scythe from the woman selling seeds at the market, right-click it in the hotbar to equip it, then click grass clumps. Eastshade supplies that equip-and-use sequence. For twigs, a player directs you to chop trees; the axe is used through the enchanted tree-cutting spell, rather than a normal inventory axe.

Buy, equip and use the scythe
- Find the seed seller at the Wisk market and inspect her scythe listing.
- Put the scythe in an accessible hotbar slot.
- Right-click its hotbar icon to equip it, then left-click a grass clump to use it.
- Check the collected grass before repeating the action for the amount your recipe requires.
The October 1 shop guide lists a scythe for 65 GP at the seed shop. The original problem was having the tool without knowing the use action. These replies do not establish a mana cost for the scythe, so a full mana bar alone is not the missing equip step.
Use the woodcutting song for twigs
A release-week answer identifies chopping trees as the twig source. Follow the enchanted axe and tree-cutting guide to cast the chant on a suitable tree, then check the resulting items. If you have not obtained the song yet, continue the first garden lesson; buying the grass-cutting tool does not unlock the tree spell.
Keep gathering separate from pond planting
The scythe is also named in players’ cranberry pond preparation and harvest instructions. That is a water-edge task, not the land-plot tilling sequence. If your goal is a potion ingredient, gather the named resource and check your recipe; these discussions do not establish that any grass, bush or tree gives every ingredient, or specify a universal respawn timer.
