Does Songs of Glimmerwick have romance?
Player romance was not planned when Eastshade answered a direct Steam question in February 2023. The studio separately described friendships and character quest arcs. That answer is dated: with the full game scheduled for September 30, 2026, we have not found a newer developer confirmation that settles its final romance features. If dating an NPC is essential to you, do not treat friendship quests as romance routes.

What did the developer actually say?
A player asked whether they could romance an NPC or start a family. Eastshade replied that this was not planned at the time. This establishes a development plan in February 2023, not an independent test of the unreleased full game. It also does not establish marriage candidates, gifts, heart levels or a family system.
What kind of relationships are planned?
In the same discussion, Eastshade said players would spend time with characters and that character quest arcs were a focus. The studio described authored story beats rather than committing to a numerical friendship bar. Its game description still promises making friends with classmates and townsfolk. Friendship stories can be meaningful without being player romance; neither source names romanceable characters.
How to decide before the full release
For now, expect a character-focused story and treat romance as unconfirmed beyond the dated developer answer. If a romance system determines your purchase, check Eastshade’s release notes or the live Steam description after September 30 before relying on an old feature list. The public demo cannot establish every relationship arc in the complete game.
