Does Songs of Glimmerwick have combat?
No. Eastshade Studios says Songs of Glimmerwick has no combat. A demo player asked whether fighting might appear later, and the studio answered directly in the Steam discussion on September 29. You do not need to plan for a hidden combat system based on the demo's peaceful opening. This is the developer's feature statement, not our completed full-game playthrough.

Does the full game add fighting after the demo?
The player's question explicitly raised that possibility after encountering no combat in the demo. Eastshade replied that its games do not have combat. The studio's own site also describes its interest in game design outside combat. This is stronger evidence than inferring the entire game from its first hours. It does not mean there are no puzzles, difficult inputs, curses or story tension.
What do you do instead?
The official Steam description lists attending magic classes, casting songs with a flute, growing the university garden, making friends, exploring the island, completing narrative quests and joining activities outside class. Music is used for practical magic such as garden work and navigating obstacles. These are described activities, not a claim that every one is available in the demo. If the flute is your concern, the sound-off and pitch answer addresses hearing, while the controller guide addresses casting inputs.
Is it the right kind of peaceful game for you?
If avoiding fighting is your main requirement, the direct developer answer resolves it. If you also want no time pressure, read the separate event and clock explanation; a no-combat answer alone cannot establish every timing rule. The free demo can help you judge dialogue, music inputs and the garden before deciding about the full PC game.
