Songs of Glimmerwick music puzzles: can you play with sound off?
Yes, according to Eastshade Studios: you can play Songs of Glimmerwick with the sound off, and the game does not ask you to distinguish tones. The studio gave that direct answer to a player worried about pitch-order music puzzles on September 30. This answers the hearing and pitch question; it is not a promise that every music input is automatic or that every accessibility need is covered.

Will a puzzle require you to hear which note is higher?
The player specifically asked whether they would need to distinguish tones to pass a music puzzle. Eastshade answered that it never asks players to do so and that the game can be played with sound off entirely. You should not need to listen to a sequence and rank its pitches to progress, based on that developer answer. We have not independently played every full-game puzzle.
Sound off does not remove every music input
Spells still use the flute and song inputs. If your obstacle is remembering or pressing notes on a controller, use the casting steps. If your obstacle is a low minigame score, Song Mastery Help and score feedback address that different task. Eastshade's demo patch notes say stars are not required just to cast a spell. None of those statements proves that the full game automatically plays every sequence for you.
A practical check for your own setup
- In the available demo, turn the volume down or mute it using your normal device controls.
- Open the songbook or a learned spell and check that you can follow its visible prompts with your chosen input device.
- Complete the spell's separate targeting step if it has one; the tilling guide shows why a correct song can still leave the ground unchanged.
This is a suggested accessibility check, not a claim that we have tested a particular hearing aid, controller layout or final-release build. If a later puzzle appears to demand pitch recognition, record its name, build and on-screen prompt against the developer's answer.
