Song Mastery Help: why a clean song still scores low

Public demo · Sources checked September 26, 2026

The short answer

If your notes seem right but you cannot reach a learned or mastered score, open the demo’s game options and look for Song Mastery Help. Eastshade says it adds points to your final score; it does not visibly slow the notes. During the song, a light-blue hit means an imperfect note and a small red dot marks a wrong note. Check those cues before repeating the same timing.

Find where the score is being lost

  1. Play the song and watch the feedback on each note, not only whether you reached the end or filled a long-note bar.
  2. Look for light-blue hits and small red dots. Eastshade says the former are imperfect hits and the latter are wrong notes; both cost points.
  3. If an icon looks as though it touches the timing line but still scores imperfectly, adjust your timing on the next attempt. One controller player reported that the effective target looked smaller than the icon and later reached mastery after changing when they pressed.

The player observation explains a possible visual mismatch; it is not a measured timing window or a universal controller fix.

Use Song Mastery Help for the final score

  1. Open the game options and find Song Mastery Help, the name Eastshade used in its demo reply.
  2. Increase the help if you want assistance, then replay the song and check the result score.

A player expected this setting to slow the notes and saw no obvious change while playing. Eastshade clarified that it adds points at the end instead. The source does not give a numeric bonus, an exact slider value or a guarantee that every attempt will reach mastery.

If you still cannot reach the level you want

First separate a low performance score from a spell-casting problem. The demo discussion distinguishes learned and mastered results, while Eastshade’s separate casting answer describes a shortcut after a song is learned. If you cannot reach the result even with help, record your demo version, input device and the feedback you see; another player in the thread still struggled with help enabled. For the spell input itself, use the controller casting guide.
