Songs of Glimmerwick ultrawide: 21:9 choices and display limits

Demo ultrawide reports · Sources checked September 28, 2026

The short answer

Some players completed the demo on an ultrawide screen, and Eastshade later tested it successfully for a few minutes. That does not establish fully polished 21:9 support: the developer reported exposed scenery edges, possible glimpses of areas you should not see yet, and overlapping hotbar controls. Another player still saw only 16:9 resolution choices. Start with the choices your installed demo actually offers.

Check the available display choices

  1. Open the game options and inspect the resolution choices. Eastshade pointed players to this list when asked how to select an ultrawide resolution.
  2. If your ultrawide resolution is listed, try it and inspect the full scene and hotbar before settling into a session.
  3. Check whether item slots and the hotbar row-switch control remain separate and usable. The developer specifically observed those controls overlapping.
  4. If the composition or interface is distracting, return to a listed 16:9 resolution and compare the same scene.

This is a comparison to perform on your own screen, not a claim that we tested every monitor. Keep a record of the original resolution so you can return to it.

Why can extra scenery appear at the sides?

Eastshade initially explained that scenes were composed for a particular aspect ratio. In its June follow-up test, a wider view worked better than expected but exposed unfinished boundaries and could reveal areas intended to remain out of view. A wider image therefore does not automatically mean every scene has been redesigned for it. That follow-up is more useful than treating the studio’s initial concern as a blanket statement that ultrawide cannot run.

What if the menu only lists 16:9?

A June player reported exactly that limitation after the developer suggested the resolution list. The discussion contains no demonstrated fix for the missing choices. Use an available resolution or report your display size, listed modes and demo build; we cannot supply a verified configuration edit, launch flag or unlock tool from this evidence. Compare the PC requirements separately, since meeting hardware requirements does not prove a particular aspect ratio is supported.

Ultrawide is different from permanent zoom

A separate demo discussion asks for a zoom level that survives room changes. It does not establish a persistent-zoom setting. Changing resolution is not a demonstrated repair for that problem. If you play docked on a television, check text and character readability as well as the screen shape; the Deck guide covers the current small-text caveat.
