How to save in Songs of Glimmerwick: the demo time-freeze limit

Demo manual-save report · Sources checked September 30, 2026

The short answer

Use Save in the pause menu before the demo clock enters its time freeze. A demo player reported that manual saving became unavailable during the freeze and that they lost a day's progress after the game closed. Eastshade replied that it wanted to add more autosave points; the discussion does not confirm that this change shipped. This is a dated demo limitation, not a tested rule for the full release.

When should you make a manual save?

  1. While the ordinary clock is still moving, open the pause menu and use its Save option. A separate demo player identifies Save in that menu.
  2. Check that the save appears in the game's Load screen before assuming the day is protected. The June menu discussion asks for Load directly inside the pause menu, so do not assume that shortcut is present in your build.
  3. If you plan to keep playing into the night, save before the clock reaches the frozen period. Eastshade separately describes a nightly clock freeze in its time-system explanation.

The source does not give a minute-by-minute cutoff or a confirmed save-hotkey. Use the option that your installed build actually displays.

What if Save is already unavailable?

In the July demo report, the player could not manually save after the time freeze began. No reply provides a way to force that disabled menu item to work. Avoid quitting or restarting on the assumption that an autosave occurred at the freeze: the player requested precisely that additional checkpoint, and Eastshade only said it wanted more autosave points. If your current build offers a working save at that moment, follow its visible behavior rather than this older report.

If progress is missing after reopening

First compare the game's Load screen with the save you remember making. The separate Windows save-folder guide gives Eastshade's documented directory and explains why finding files there does not guarantee recovery. The demo-to-full-game guide covers a different question: whether progress continues into the released game. Neither source proves that a lost day can be reconstructed from a missing autosave.
